"Stock is not about stock. It's about the entry into the illustration business of a few large corporations that are using discounted art sales as a wedge into freelancers' markets. Their goal is to have clients call them, not artists, for art. And yet most artists are still unaware of the development.

This video is the first effort by top professionals in the field to expose the problem, and to propose both individual and institutional solutions. It consists of 2 panel discussions taped April 21, 2000 at the New School in New York City. The event was hosted by Barbara Nessim, artist and chair of Parsons School of Design, and moderated by artists and writer Brad Holland, founding partner of the Illustrators' Partnership of America.

Panel 1: What is Stock and How Does It Work?
(running time approx. 100 minutes)

Panel 2: Making Stock Work For You
(running time approximately 100 minutes)
